How It Works

1

Choose Your Recording Source

Select whether to record a specific browser tab, an application window, or your entire screen. The browser prompts you with native OS sharing controls so you can pick exactly which display surface to capture without any additional software installation.

2

Record with Optional Microphone Audio

Toggle microphone input on or off before starting the capture. When enabled, your voice is mixed directly into the recording alongside system audio from the shared tab, making it easy to narrate walkthroughs, provide commentary, or explain on-screen actions as they happen.

3

Stop and Download the Video File

Click the stop button when you are finished, and the recording is immediately available for preview. Download the video as a WebM file that plays in any modern browser or can be converted to MP4 using free tools for sharing on platforms that require specific formats.

Who Uses This

QA Testers

recording browser-based bug reproductions with narration so developers can see the exact steps that trigger an issue without scheduling a live screen-share session across time zones

Online Tutors

capturing walkthroughs of coding exercises and problem-solving sessions directly from their browser tab, then sharing the recordings with students who could not attend the live session

Product Managers

creating quick feature demonstration videos for stakeholder updates and release notes without the overhead of professional screen recording software and post-production editing

Frequently Asked Questions

Does the screen recorder capture system audio from my computer?
System audio capture depends on your browser and operating system. Chrome on Windows and Chrome OS can capture tab audio when you share a tab. Sharing a window or full screen typically does not capture system audio. For reliable system audio, use a dedicated desktop recording application.
What video format does the recorder produce?
The tool outputs WebM format using the VP8 or VP9 codec, which is the native recording format of the browser's MediaRecorder API. WebM plays natively in Chrome, Firefox, and Edge. For MP4 compatibility, convert the file using a free video converter before uploading to platforms that require it.
Is there a recording time limit?
There is no artificial time limit imposed by the tool. Recording length is constrained only by available memory on your device. For recordings longer than 15 minutes, monitor your browser's memory usage, as very long captures can consume significant RAM on devices with limited resources.
